Players are considered for the Top Performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Basketball Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If any coaches or members of their coaching staff would like to be set up to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.


Fans' choice for Top Performer

Franklin Doyle, Cristo Rey Jesuit. Doyle posted a game-high 29 points in an 84-66 loss to Providence Academy on Feb. 24. Doyle also had 15 points in a 66-62 loss to Charter Stars and scored 10 in a 90-49 victory over Hope Academy earlier in the week.

Top Performer candidates

Noah Slagter, Willmar. Slagter had 27 points against Sauk Rapids-Rice in an 82-65 victory on Feb. 20 and recorded a 26-point game in a 66-54 win against Brainerd three days later.

Deng Deang, Sauk Rapids-Rice. Deang had a big week for the Storm, beginning with 35 points (making 14 of 28 attempts from the field and going 6-for-6 from the free-throw line) in the loss to Willmar on Feb. 20. He scored 16 points on 8 of 10 shooting against Big Lake in a 49-37 win on Feb. 22 and concluded the stretch with 17 points against Alexandria in a 60-55 victory.

Reid Johnson, Chatfield. The freshman led Chatfield with 30 points and also corralled six rebounds in a 78-63 win over Southland on Feb. 22. 

Pat Vanderbeek, Ely. Vanderbeek erupted for 30 points -- including nailing nine three-pointers -- in an 81-57 win against Mountain Iron-Buhl on Feb. 20.

Austin Plonsky, Cleveland. Plonsky broke Cleveland’s all-time scoring mark on Feb. 20, when he finished with 30 points in a 93-58 win over Medford. Plonsky eclipsed the previous record of 1,859 by two points.

Isaac Fink, Springfield. Fink paced Springfield with 29 points in 98-60 win over Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Feb. 20. He also pulled down 13 rebounds.

Deszi Sims, Minneapolis Roosevelt. Sims produced 27 points in a 79-68 loss to Minneapolis North. He nearly matched that point total a game later, finishing with 29 on 6-for-14 shooting that included making four three-pointers.

Jordan Belka, Rogers. Belka went off in a 70-67 win over Princeton on Feb. 20, shooting 9 of 19 from the field, knocking down four three-pointers and going 6 of 6 from the free-throw line to finish with 28 points. He ended last week with a 15-point effort against St. Michael-Albertville in a 53-45 win.

Josiah Strong, Champlin Park. Strong's 29 points helped the Rebels eke out a 69-64 win over Irondale on Feb. 20. He also had 15 points, six rebounds and four assists against Robbinsdale Armstrong in a 61-48 victory three days later.
