Junior basketball player has another heart surgery to remove blood clots

Zach Gabbard, the Perham junior who collapsed on the court Jan. 20 during a game in Glyndon, is back on a ventilator at a Minneapolis hospital.

Gabbard’s breathing tube was taken out for the first time Thursday, according to a post Thursday on the CaringBridge website.

But the latest entry, dated 10:06 p.m. Friday, stated that Gabbard went into another heart surgery around 5 p.m. Friday when another clot was found in his heart.
