Eden Prairie's stay at top could be short one

CHASKA 68, EDEN PRAIRIE 63: After recently earning the No. 1 ranking in Class 4A by defeating Hopkins last week, Eden Prairie (16-3) might already have lost its top-ranked status by losing at Chaska (15-4) on Tuesday night. In one of their better defensive efforts of the season, the Hawks took the lead in the first half and never looked back. They built a 14-point cushion at one point in the second half. Senior forward Ross Travis led four Chaska players in double figures with 23 points. Senior forward Dylan Stewart led the Eagles with 24 points.

HILL-MURRAY 62, TARTAN 54: The Class 4A, No. 3 Titans have only fallen twice, but both times have been at the hands of the Pioneers. Hill-Murray held Tartan to 19 second-half points, rallying for the Classic Suburban victory. Senior forward Jim Remke had 19 points to lead the Pioneers, who had four other players score between eight and 12 points. They made all six of their free throws in the final minute. Sophomore guard Darrion Strong paced Tartan with 16 points.

APPLE VALLEY 73, LAKEVILLE SOUTH 70: The tandem of senior Tom Schalk (29 points) and freshman Tyus Jones (17 points) combined for 46 points, leading the Eagles past the Class 4A, No. 9 Cougars in the South Suburban. Jon Christensen led Lakeville South with 19 points.

CHAMPLIN PARK 67, MAPLE GROVE 41: Junior guard Anthony Hill had a double-double (18 points and 10 rebounds), leading the Class 4A, No. 7 Rebels past the Crimson in Northwest Suburban play. The 6-foot-2 guard had seven offensive boards. Champlin Park raced to a 35-17 halftime lead.

EASTVIEW 52, BURNSVILLE 49: The Class 4A, No. 4 Lightning scored 37 points in the second half, rallying past the Blaze in the South Suburban play. Eastview, which trailed by 11 points at halftime, closed the game on a 24-6 run.  Senior forward Frank Veldman led the Lightning with 23 points. Burnsville senior forward Tony DeLanghe scored a game-high 25 points. Burnsville beat Eastview 44-39 earlier this season.

NORTHFIELD 76, FARIBAULT 59: Senior center Otto Pfefferle was a monster in the paint.   Pfefferle scored 19 points and grabbed 27 rebounds as the Raiders beat the Falcons in nonconference play.

IRONDALE 58, SPRING LAKE PARK 57: Senior forward Derek Sprang made a three-pointer at the buzzer, lifting the Panthers over the Knights in North Suburban.  Spring Lake Park junior forward Sean Scott had a game-high 29 points, including six three-pointers.

PARK CENTER 70, ARMSTRONG 62: After starting the season 14-2, the month of February has been unkind to the Falcons, who lost their third game in the last eight days at Park Center. Marquel Curtis had a game-high 22 points for the Falcons, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a balanced Pirates attack. Sophomore Quinton Hooker paced Park Center with 14 points.

ST. LOUIS PARK 68, COLUMBIA HEIGHTS 62: Hylanders junior Ben Glover had 18 of his game-high 26 points in the second half, but the team wasn’t able to overcome the absence of leading-scorer Zach Lofton in a loss to the Orioles in the North Suburban. Lofton didn’t dress due to an injury suffered a week ago. Marquealis Edwards scored 12 of his team-high 21 points in the second half for St. Louis Park.

WAYZATA 74, EDINA 57: Senior forward Eric Robertson scored 12 of his 19 points in the second half of the Trojans’ victory over the Hornets in the Lake. Robertson dislocated the ring finger on his shooting hand in the first half, and played through it in the second half.
