Last-second layup downs Bombers

CONCORDIA ACADEMY 75, BRAHAM 74: Senior guard Sam Wirth passed to junior forward Cutler Finneman for a layup with 5 seconds left, giving the Beacons a one-point victory over the Class 2A, No. 2 Bombers in the quarterfinals of the Crusader Classic at St. Cloud Cathedral. Following a Braham timeout, the Beacons stole the ball to preserve the victory. The Bombers took a 74-73 lead when junior guard Tyler Vaughan went coast-to-coast for a layup after Concordia Academy missed the front end of a 1-and-1. Vaughan finished with 38 points. Finneman paced the Beacons with 19 points.

BLOOMINGTON JEFFERSON 47, MINNEAPOLIS ROOSEVELT 46 (OT): Sophomore forward Kevin Woebke’s layup with 16 seconds left in overtime gave the Jaguars a victory over the Teddie in the third-place game of the Bethel tournament. Minneapolis Roosevelt missed a shot at the buzzer. The Jaguars forced overtime with sophomore forward Brian Fritzlar’s basket with 3 seconds left in regulation.  Bloomington Jefferson senior Kevin Handt also had a key layup in the overtime and finished with a double-double (10 points and 11 rebounds).

CHASKA 80, WACONIA 63: Senior forwards Ross Travis (27 points) and Jake White (22 points) combined for 49 points, leading the Hawks past the Wildcats in the semifinals of the Eden Prairie tournament. Waconia senior center Shelby Moats was limited to 14 points.
