Grayson Pulis
Grayson Pulis made quite the impression last week for Delano's boys' basketball team. Playing in his first varsity action, the 6-6 junior center accumulated 19 points and 28 rebounds in helping the Tigers to a 2-0 start.
Nineteen of those boards came in a 69-31 victory over Dassel-Cokato – 15 in the first half.
"He puts himself in the right spot to make some plays," coach Terry Techam said. "Though some of his teammates were giving him a hard time that some of his rebounds were from his own missed shots."
Pulis was expected to step in and start this season after a fine sophomore season for Delano's lower levels. But this?
"I can't remember too many guys stepping in and getting 19 [rebounds] right off the bat," Techam said. "He just has a knack for getting the ball. He's not the quickest and doesn't jump the highest. But he does well for what he's got."
Delano has Mike Yahnke on its roster, a talented 6-7 senior forward who draws most of the opponent's attention.
"He's the focal point," Techam said. "Already, other guys are accepting their roles and it's bringing us good things."
