With the late-December schedule offering only a handful of regular-season games in the run-up to the holiday tournaments, we decided to package 10 of the best games from the next 14 days in this edition of Top Games of the Week.

As the calendar flips to the new year, Eden Prairie may be looking put the early portion of the season behind it.

The Eagles' failure to finish off tight games has left them with three losses. Eden Prairie fell by one point to Burnsville and Eastview and came up four points shy against Osseo.

The new year brings another challenge as Eden Prairie faces undefeated Shakopee, a team that entered the season off its second consecutive third-place finish at the Class 4A state tournament and looks to be as strong as ever.

The Eagles' ability to keep games close should provide a test for the Sabers, ranked No. 5 in Class 4A by Minnesota Basketball News. Shakopee has cruised in every game this season, including in an impressive 94-86 victory over No. 6-4A Rochester John Marshall on Dec. 12.

With Eden Prairie and Shakopee kicking off the new year in a Class 4A clash, their game has all the makings of a Top Game of the Week.
