Dec 18: A loss to the Huskies last season sparked the Dutchmen's state title run and a 12-game winning streak.

Class 2A, Section 6 has recently included some of the state's best teams. That proved to be true last season when Melrose battled through the section en route to earning a state title.

The Dutchmen (4-0), ranked No. 1 in Class 2A by Minnesota Basketball News, finished last season with eight straight wins and have picked up where they left off in March. Melrose's next test comes this week as it makes the short trip down Interstate 94 to face Albany (6-0), the last team to beat the Dutchmen.

After a two-year absence, the No. 10-2A Huskies drop back to Class 2A only eight months after reaching the Class 3A state tournament.

But it's not just Albany that Melrose has to keep an eye on, as No. 3-2A Braham has also moved to the section this season.

Adding two of the state's top teams to an already stacked section that includes the reigning state champion makes a regular-season game between any of these teams an enticing one, and the matchup featuring Melrose and Albany fits the bill with all the makings of a Top Game of the Week.
