Alan Woitas starts his second year at the helm for New Ulm Cathedral. After a 7-18 season start last year with no seniors on the squad, it is certainly believed that the NUC squad will be improved and a tough challenge for all opponents.

Top returners this season include Collin Helget & Brandon Beranek who’ll provide the interior skills for their squad. Michael Skillings & Jack Schwartz offer up as outside threats. The key to a successful season will likely be the desire to rebound the basketball & defend. A lot of the offense would potentially be generated through some tough defense.

An early goal is a top 4-5 finish in the Tomahawk Conference. GFW is mentioned often as an early potential conference champ, but teams like Springfield, MVL, & Sleepy Eye St Mary’s will have something to say about that. The cross town games vs MVL are always one for bragging rights in the city.

Section favorites in 2A are looking like LP/HT, SESM, & Springfield before the season begins. There are certainly other adequate squads who’ll have abilities to knock off a better team on any given night. Cathedral certain hopes that one of those teams is theirs.
