Lakeview Christian Academy junior Anders Broman now No. 2 on the all-time scoring list

Broman

Anders Broman has had a career for the record books, and he's only a junior in high school.

The Lakeview Christian Academy phenom has amassed more than 3,400 career points since joining the varsity squad in 2008.

His 50-point performance Saturday, Feb. 18, brought his career total to 3,462, according to the Duluth News Tribune. That total moves him past 2008 Ellsworth grad Cody Schilling for sole possession of the No. 2 spot for career points scored in Minnesota high school boys basketball history.

And he's still got his senior year to go.

Broman now trails only Kevin Noreen of Minnesota Transitions Charter. Noreen scored more than 4,000 career points between 2005 and 2010.

Broman will likely eclipse Noreen next season if he continues the torrid pace he's maintained throughout the past three seasons.

This season, Broman leads the state in both points scored and points per game. Through 21 games, he has totaled 941 points while averaging 44.8 points per game.

To put that into perspective, the next highest point-scorer is Trinity Lutheran's Tony Kuplic, who in 23 games has 646 points.

After Saturday's win over Cook County, Broman and the Lions (19-3) are riding a four-game winning streak, with four regular season game remaining.

Last season, Lakeview Christian came up one game short of making the Class 1A state tournament, losing to Chisholm 74-59 in the Section 7 championship game.
