After putting up just 15 points in the first half and trailing by three at halftime, Eastview came out with a stronger second half — nearly doubling its first-half output with 27 points — to outpace Rosemount for a 42-41 win in the Class 4A, Section 3 semifinals on Friday night at Eastview High School.
Despite the teams' lopsided overall records, the game was poised to be a tough matchup for the Lightning (21-7), who split the regular-season contests against the Irish (11-17), with each team winning one game and both games being decided by six or less points.
Senior Chet Kloss scored eight points in the win, including the game-winning basket as the clock expired to send the Lightning on to the Class 4A, Section 3 final against Eagan next week. Mario Adams led the Lightning with 14 points.
Senior Anish Ramlall contributed a game-high 19 points for Rosemount.
