Bulldogs fail to slow Silverstreaks' Herzog in first half

The Swanville boys’ basketball team opened up their season last Tuesday with a conference game against the Osakis Silverstreaks. A slow start to a first half proved to be too much for the Bulldogs as Osakis took the game 62-50.

Part way through the first half, Swanville had a 18-10 lead. Mitchell Herzog of Osakis then went on a tear going six for nine on three pointers to give the Silverstreaks a 40-25 lead going into the half.

The Bulldogs played much better defense in the second half outscoring Osakis 25-22 but could not make a much needed run to close the gap.

Colten Kruzel led the team with 11 points while Derek Pfeiffer added nine.

Austin Mollner pulled down 11 rebounds on the night. Jordan Sales added eight.

The Bulldogs will get another chance at their first win when they take on Eagle Valley Dec. 9 in another conference game.
