When Braham and Orono get together it will pit Brady Wohler and Tyler Vaughan against each other for the first time in their high school careers. The two are friends and have played off-season basketball together here and there dating several years back. Saturday they go at it head-to-head.

Orono is the defending Class AAA state champion but Braham won’t be scared at all. They’ve already taken on St. Thomas Academy (and beat them) in an early-season jamboree and then played Hopkins within single digits until the last dozen minutes of last weekend’s game (it was impressive considering the difference in talent).

Vaughan is a constant putting up large scoring numbers and he produced 27 against the Royals. Wohler scored 23 in last week’s two point loss to STMA. Expect both of them to excite the crowd with their weekend total.

Who is going to produce in support of Tyler and Brady? For the Spartans they have a core of experienced vets in Mitch Horner, Conor Borgert, Spencer Carlson, and Anthonie Tholey. All seem capable and one needs to step up.

Cameron Braund of Braham had a strong game against Hopkins and he looks like he’ll be giving Coach Bob Vaughan a standout year. Guys like Sam Stigen, Anthony Nias, and Shaun Hollenkamp need to step up in support if they are going to win the Breakdown Tip Off contest.
