Apple Valley sophomore named to Five-Star Basketball top 10

Apple Valley standout sophomore Tyus Jones claimed another honor Monday.

Five-Star Basketball, an organization devoted to developing basketball on a global scale, named Tyus one its Super Summer Sophomores of 2011.

Jones, who has spent the summer playing for the Howard Pulley Panthers 17U team, has drawn national attention for his play. ESPN recruiting guru Dave Telep compared Jones, a 6-foot-1 point guard, said Jones "would be the No. 1 point guard in the Class of 2012 right now and No. 2 in 2013," according to the news release.

Over the summer, Jones managed to put up 40 points on Seattle Rotary at EYBL Dallas and compiled an event-high 31 pionts at the Peach Jam during an upset win over then-No. 1 BABC.

The nine others named to the list are Shaqquan Aaron, Cliff Alexander, Dakari Johnson, Jaquan Lyle, Emmanuel Mudiay, Jahlil Okafor, Theo Pinson, Wayne Selden and Andrew Wiggins.
