We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.
Perham vs. Hawley, 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15. Perham has won 15 of the last 20 games between these teams and made a victim of Hawley (8-1, 3-0) in the Class 2A, Section 8 tournament while reaching four straight state tournaments (2011-14). Hawley won its first seven games this season, and you'd have to think beating the No. 3-2A Yellowjackets (10-1, 3-0) would make the Nuggets' day.
St. Thomas Academy vs. North St. Paul, 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18. St. Thomas Academy (7-5, 3-1) holds a 9-7 edge in competition with North St. Paul (6-5, 2-1) since 2011, but the Polars have won three of the last four.
Robbinsdale Armstrong vs. Spring Lake Park, 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15. Robbinsdale Armstrong (7-4, 3-2) made a statement last week with a 62-56 victory at No. 3-4A Park Center (10-1, 3-1). The Falcons can improve their position in the Northwest Suburban Conference standings with a victory at Spring Lake Park (9-3, 2-2).
