Lakeville North cruises past Austin in dominating fashion

Lakeville North and senior Tyler Wahl had a memorable day Saturday in the last game of the Panthers' home holiday tournament against Austin.

Wisconsin commit Wahl scored his 1,000th career point in the first half of an 84-64 victory over the Packers (5-2, 4-1).

Lakeville North, ranked No. 6 in Class 4A by Minnesota Basketball News, jumped out on a 20-8 run in the first seven minutes. From there the Panthers' offense continued to roll, led by Wahl's 20 points.

No. 6-3A Austin cut the deficit to as low as eight in the second half before Lakeville North (5-3, 1-0) took over once again. The Packers' Medi Obang led all scorers with 22 points, and his teammate Agwa Nywesh also finished with 16 points.

Aside from Wahl, four other Lakeville North players finished with double-digit scoring totals. Tommy Jensen finished with 15 points, followed by Eli Mostaert with 12, Jack Rusch with 11 and Carter Patterson's 10.
