Eastview tried to make Apple Valley sweat most of the way, getting as close as two points in the second half. But the defending Class 4A champion Eagles prevailed for an 84-69 victory to win the Section 3 title.
Apple Valley senior guard Ely Hendrickson swung the momentum with three three-pointers to eclipse an early 9-2 run by the No. 2 seeded Lightning (12-17) in the first half.
It gave the top-seeded Eagles (25-4) the jump-start needed in the game at Farmington High School. Senior guard Tre Jones led Apple Valley with a game-high 33 points.

Eastview whittled Apple Valley’s lead to a basket, 42-40, about midway through the second half. Foul trouble and turnovers stymied the Lightning’s upset bid as the Eagles used a 16-2 run to break open the game.
