Player of the Week winner

David Roddy, Breck. The junior center scored a season-high 49 points in an 81-79 win over Walden Grove, a team from Arizona. Roddy also scored 25 in a 70-62 loss to No. 13-4A Wayzata. Roddy is averaging 34 points per game for the Mustangs.

Player of the Week candidates

Michael Jones, Woodbury. Jones matched his season-high points scored with 39 against North St. Paul in a 78-72 win over the Polars, who came into the game ranked No. 7 in Class 4A by Minnesota Basketball News.

Calvin Wishart, Delano. Wishart continues to impress this season for No. 6-3A Delano, this time with a 46-point performance against Hermantown in an 86-72 win. He also had a 28-point game against Big Lake in a 75-57 win.

Matt Todd, Monticello. Todd and the Magic are riding a three-game winning streak after beating North Branch 79-45. Todd scored 29 points on 9 of 11 shooting from the field. He also finished 9-for-9 from the line and pulled down eight rebounds. Todd also had five assists and five steals.

Beijan Newbern, Maranatha. Newbern scored 26 points on 11 of 19 shooting in a 73-58 victory over St. Agnes. That came after a 9-for-13, 21-point game against Nova Classical in a 94-48 win.

Anders Nelson, Edina. The Hornets fell from the No. 1 spot in Class 4A rankings to No. 6 but Nelson’s play has been on the rise. He had 26 points in a 66-63 loss to Chaska and had 28 points against Park Center in a 65-60 loss.

Cade Johnson, PACT. Johnson poured in 31 points against St. Paul Humboldt in a 61-57 loss. He added 23 in a 61-40 loss to St. Paul Academy. Johnson is averaging 28.8 points per game for the Panthers.

Michael Schaefer, St. Cloud Cathedral. Schaefer had another monster week for the Crusaders after a 24-point game against Becker in an 86-52 win. He added a 31-point, 14-rebound game against Foley in an 81-65 victory to give St. Cloud Cathedral a three-game winning streak.

Jayden Ruberg, Two Harbors. Ruberg led Two Harbors with 29 points in an 82-60 loss to Silver Bay. Ruberg has a 51-point game under his belt already this season, which came on Dec. 12 in an 84-80 overtime win over Duluth Marshall.

Caleb Hoilien, Hope Academy. Hoilien scored a game-high 45 points against Learning for Leadership in a 95-84 victory. He outdueled Kafi Abdi, who scored 30 points in the loss.
