Hopkins senior guard Joe Coleman on Tuesday was chosen the state's Mr. Basketball, an honor that goes to the top senior high school player as determined by the Minnesota Basketball Coaches Association (MBCA).

Coleman, a Gophers recruit and the Star Tribune Metro Player of the Year, led Hopkins to its third consecutive Class 4A state championship this past weekend.

The other finalists were Lucas Brown of Roseville; Shelby Moats of Waconia; Kyle Noreen of Minnesota Transitions, and Jake White of Chaska.

Coleman and many of the other top seniors in the state will play this weekend in the MBCA All-Star Series, which begins Friday with games at St. Cloud State and culminates Saturday night with a championship game at Macalester.
