Cretin-Derham gets revenge against Roseville

CRETIN-DERHAM HALL 68, ROSEVILLE 58: Cretin avenged a loss to Roseville earlier this season to ensure both teams finished 15-3 and tied atop the Suburban East Conference. Senior guard Raijon Kelly led Cretin with 21 points, while junior Taylor Montero added 19, 17 of them in the second half. Roseville senior guard David Stanley led the Raiders with 18 points.

WAYZATA 89, MINNETONKA 82: It took overtime, but Wayzata senior guard Eric Robertson’s 25 points and 11 rebounds led the Trojans past conference rival Minnetonka. Fellow senior Chris Burt added 21 points and 10 rebounds for Wayzata. Skippers senior Nick Latzke turned a steal into the game-tying layup with3 seconds to play to send the game into the extra session. Latzke scored 22 points; Tommy McDermott led Minnetonka with 24.

MINNEAPOLIS SOUTH 95, MINNEAPOLIS EDISON 58: Senior Mohamed Mohamed scored 45 points for South, topping his previous season high by 26 points. The 6-4 big man hit 10 of 13 free throws and added 16 rebounds for his eighth double-double of the season. Senior Marcus Nolen led Edison with 26 points.

ST. PAUL HUMBOLDT 63, ST. PAUL ACADEMY 61: Coming out of a timeout with the score tied at 61, Humboldt senior Julian Luster drove the baseline, drew the defense and dished to his younger brother Chase, who scored the winner on a left-handed jump hook with 2.2 seconds to play. With no timeouts left SPA inbounded the ball but wasn’t able to get a shot off.

ANOKA 62, MAPLE GROVE 61: Following a timeout, junior guard Marcus Tyus rushed down the court and nailed a three-pointer as the buzzer sounded for the Tornadoes, after Maple Grove sophomore guard Brycen Wojta hit a three-pointer with five seconds left that gave the Crimson a 61-59 lead. Tyus led all scorers with 23 points, while Wojta led Maple Grove with 19.

HILL-MURRAY 64, ST. THOMAS ACADEMY 50: Pioneers leading scorer Jim Remke scored a game-high 28 points to lead Hill-Murray to a perfect 16-0 record in Classic Suburban conference play. The 6-5 senior added 11 rebounds, while fellow senior Rob Daul notched a double-double of his own with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

ELK RIVER 75, ARMSTRONG 67: Senior forward Ben Erickson poured in 27 points, including the 1,000th of his career, to lead the Elks. Erickson also grabbed six rebounds and passed for six assists, while  junior guard Tucker Morrell had 18 points, all from behind the three-point line. Armstrong senior forward Marquel Curtis scored 25 points.

ROBBINSDALE COOPER 61, BUFFALO 60: Cooper overcame a 22-point first half deficit to come back and beat Mississippi 8 conference leaders Buffalo in a nonconference tilt. Freshman forward Rashad Vaughn (19 total points) and senior guard Handful Pour (18 points) combined to score 29 points in the second half for Cooper, who trailed by 10 points with six mintues left in the game..

WACONIA 83, ANNANDALE 52: Waconia clinched its third straight Wright County Conference title behind 6-9 senior forward Shelby Moats’ 27 points. Senior guard Ben Kortuem added 16 points and junior Alex Schmitt 12 for the Wildcats

MAYER LUTHERAN 60, CONCORDIA ACADEMY 59: Senior guards Aaron Cook (16 points) and Mitch Gassen (15 points) led Mayer Lutheran as the Crusaders squeaked out a nonconference win. Senior guard Jeff Weber had 30 points, including eight three-pointers, in the loss for Concordia.
