St. Paul Johnson tops Central

ST. PAUL JOHNSON 96, ST. PAUL CENTRAL 72: Johnson rolled past the Minutemen in the St. Paul City conference behind senior Roosevelt Scott’s 28 points and 19 points by junior Marcus Marshall. Senior center Martin Smith led Central with 28 points.

SIBLEY EAST 72, NEW ULM 58: Senior Lucas Herd wrapped-up the regular season on a high-note, finishing with 25 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists for the Wolverines.

MINNESOTA TRANSITIONS 109, CASS LAKE-BENA 73: Senior guard Kyle Noreen eclipsed the 40-point plateau for the fifth time this season, scoring 49 points for the Wolves. Noreen finished with a tripe-double with 13 rebounds and 12 assists. Rodney Owens recorded a double-double with 18 points and 25 assists, three shy of the state assists record.

• CLASS 1A, SECTION 2: Senior Joshua Kennedy hit six three-pointers and finished with a season-high 41 points as Southwest Christian turned away Buffalo Lake-Hector 72-63 in an opening round section matchup.
