Apple Valley continues to roll with full lineup intact

Jameson Parsons

Jameson Parsons made it official last week that he will play football at St. Cloud State. But the Eagan quarterback still has a few months before summer workouts begin for the Huskies, so in the meantime he'll focus on helping the Wildcats claw their way through the South Suburban Conference standings.

Parsons, a guard, scored 14 of his game-high 19 points in the second half against Eastview on Friday night, leading to a 47-35 victory.

Eagan lost to the Lightning by 26 points earlier in the season.

"We just played with a little more intensity, especially on the defensive end of the floor," Wildcats coach Kurt Virgin said.

The first time around, Eastview junior forward Joey King scored 36 points against Eagan, but this time the Wildcats' 2-3 zone limited him to 16.

Parsons, meanwhile, took over with four three-pointers in his second-half burst.

"It was a big game for us to get back into the conference race," Virgin said.

Each team entered this week with an 8-2 record in the conference, tied for second behind Lakeville South's 9-1 mark.

The regular season ends March 4.

Etc.

Apple Valley continues to win with its full lineup intact. While standouts Tyus Jones and Tom Schalk continue to shine in their return from injury, others are emerging as well. Dustin Fronk powered a 20-point victory over Prior Lake last week.

Apple Valley shot 69 percent from the field in that game, led by Fronk, who made six three-pointers.
