Lofton, Highlanders light up Minneapolis Washburn

COLUMBIA HEIGHTS 92, MINNEAPOLIS WASHBURN 78: Hylanders senior guard Zach Lofton continues to light up the scoreboard, pouring in 53 points in a nonconference victory over the Class 3, No. 5 Millers. Columbia Heights is ranked No. 9.

DELASALLE 63, MINNEAPOLIS NORTH 61 (OT): After building a 53-40 lead with 7 minutes, 26 seconds remaining in regulation, the Class 3A, No. 1 Islanders went cold, failing to score again and allowing the Polars a 13-0 run to force overtime. Islanders senior Jonah Travis, who finished with a game-high 28 points, took over in overtime, scoring eight of the team’s 10 points. Junior Charles Smith led North with 21 points, including four second-half three-pointers.

HILL-MURRAY 68, ST. THOMAS ACADEMY 64: The Pioneers used a balanced scoring attack to overcome a five-point halftime deficit, and beat the Cadets in the Classic Suburban. Hill-Murray scored 41 points in the second half. Dave Simmet scored 19 points to pace four Hill-Murray players in double figures. The Cadets’ Thomas Sjoberg scored a game-high 30 points.

IRONDALE 90, ROGERS 75: Knights senior Bryan Sprang was 4-for-4 from beyond the arc and 6-for-6 from the line en route to a 35-point performance against the Royals. Sprang scored 25 points in the first half.
