Achieving a family first is no easy task for Garrett Carlin.

The Fosston High School senior grabbed the 1,000th rebound of his basketball career Friday. Carlin also has more than 1,000 career points – a pair of four-figure milestones that nobody else in his family has accomplished.

But his family ties have a deep connection to outstanding athleticism.
