The next big name to play for the Osseo boys’ basketball team doesn’t have far to go when it comes to getting advice: Junior Zach Theisen is the son of Orioles coach Tim Theisen, who won his 300th career game last season.

Zach, a 6-1 guard, showed off his shooting touch in leading Osseo to the championship of the Moorhead Holiday tournament.

He made eight of 15 three-point attempts and averaged 33 points per game in victories over Stillwater (99-38) and Moorhead (106-49).

The younger Theisen has topped 30 points three times this season and was averaging 24.8 points per game through Tuesday, helping Osseo jump out to a 7-1 start.

Rumble champs

Two west metro wrestlers won their weights at the prestigious Rumble on the Red Invitational on Dec. 30 in Fargo.
