Defense makes the difference for Blaze

BURNSVILLE 44, EASTVIEW 39: For the second time in three nights, the Blaze offense sputtered while the defense shined. Following a 36-34 road victory at Bloomington Kennedy on Tuesday, Burnsville held the Class 4A, No. 3 Lightning to 17 second-half points in the South Suburban. Senior forward Tony DeLanghe carried the Blaze with 17 points.

SHAKOPEE 50, EDINA 48 (2 OTs): Senior center Jason Perkins' basket with two minutes remaining in the second overtime helped carry the Sabers over Edina. Perkins scored 13 of his game-high 21 points in the second half and overtime periods. Clutch free throw shooting by the Sabers helped keep the Hornets at bay.

BENILDE-ST. MARGARET'S 78, COLUMBIA HEIGHTS 67: Junior guards Isaiah Zierden (29 points) and Sanjay Lumpkin (21 points) combined to power the Red Knights past the Hylanders. Columbia Heights senior guard Zach Lofton was held to a season-low 12 points.

MINNEAPOLIS WASHBURN 90, MINNEAPOLIS HENRY 81: Clarence Thomas scored 39 points, 25 in the first half, as the Class 3A, No. 6 Millers beat the Patriots in the Minneapolis City.

ANDOVER 57, COON RAPIDS 49: Senior guard Jake Wagner poured in a season-high 28 points as the Huskies ran past the Cardinals in the Northwest Suburban. Andover held a 36-19 halftime advantage.
