Columbia Heights falls for first time this season

ST. LOUIS PARK 68, COLUMBIA HEIGHTS 58: The Orioles figured out a way to beat the Hylanders – let Zach Lofton score his points and contain the rest of the team. Sophomore guard Kashif Hayes had 19 points as St. Louis Park handed the Class 3A, No. 5 Hylanders their first setback of the season Tuesday night in Columbia Heights. Lofton, right, had a game-high 35 points for the Hylanders, who didn't have anybody else with more than six points.

CHAMPLIN PARK 86, ARMSTRONG 71: The Falcons found out they need more than a two-man show to beat the Rebels. Senior forward T.J. Okafor scored 27 points as Champlin Park was able to overcome the combined 55-point effort of Armstrong's high-scoring tandem of Marquel Curtis and K.J. Bluford. Curtis finished with 30 points, while Bluford wound up with 25. Champlin Park raced to a 19-point halftime lead.

CRETIN-DERHAM HALL 74, WHITE BEAR LAKE 53: Both teams entered the matchup with only one loss, but it was the Class 4A, No. 2 Raiders who flexed their muscles, building a 21-point halftime lead against the Bears and never looking back. Coming off their loss to Wayzata in the St. Thomas tournament, the Raiders were led by junior C.J. Neumann with 18 points, while Raijon Kelly chipped in 15 and Taylor Montero added 12.

EASTVIEW 71, EAGAN 45: Junior Joey King got the better of his former teammates. The Eagan transfer scored 36 points, 22 in the first half, as the Lightning rolled over the Wildcats in the South Suburban.

WACONIA 69, ORONO 51: The Class 3A, No. 4 Spartans found out how quickly things can change. Fresh off their Granite City Classic championship, Waconia senior center Shelby Moats dominated the paint (33 points and 20 rebounds)  as the Wildcats handed Orono its first loss of the season.
