It's the start of a new era at Minnetonka.  Coach Tom Dasovich has moved closer to home after a successful six years at Henry Sibley High where he brought the Warriors to state his final three seasons.  Dasovich faces a new challenge but he does it with some talent on the roster.  Nick Latzke, Tommy McDermott and Andy Jones are scorers to utilize but the biggest challenge will be to get these Skippers defending.  Blake Nelson will bring toughness and Andrew Turnblad looks ready to turn the corner in the middle.

 

Tonka will get a good example of what it means to defend when they take on one of the Class AAA favorites in DeLaSalle.  Coach Dave Thorson has a solid squad that has athletic ability, toughness, some size and depth.  Leading the way is Harvard commit Jonah Travis who is a man's man when it comes to high school basketball.  Travis is high level strong around the bucket and nearly impossible to knock off balance.  His combo of athletic ability, strength, motor and IQ on the floor will give coaches nightmares.  Also inside are Marcas Dorsey and Robert Nnando-Lay who are improved bigs.  These three will go head to head with Nelson and Turnblad and the entire group (both Tonka and DeLaSalle) consists of quality 6-foot-4, 6-foot-5, and 6-foot-6 bigs.

 

Speaking of three point shooting, that's where Bretson McNeal comes in.  McNeal takes a lot of pressure off of the other DeLaSalle weapons with his range.  The biggest weapon DeLaSalle has is their intensity and defense and that is what Minnetonka has to overcome.
