Jordan junior Jimmy Vollbrecht has taken his game to another level.

The 6-8 center recently broke the school’s single-game scoring record with 47 points in a 76-67 boys’ basketball victory over Southwest Christian.

He also pulled down 10 rebounds.

“Jimmy had one of those nights where he was in a really good rhythm,” Jordan coach Matt Urbanek said. “We’ve been battling illness and injury with our lineup, and Jimmy just decided to put the team on his back.”

Ten days earlier, Vollbrecht had a 40-point performance in a 75-73 setback at Pipestone. He scored 191 points in a six-game stretch, averaging 31.8 points per game during that span.

“He has worked very hard on his game over the past couple years, and he is the ultimate team player,” Urbanek said. “He deserves the success he is having because he’s earned it.”

The previous record of 42 points at Jordan was shared by Warren Will and Eric Ritter. Will recorded his feat against New Prague in 1957, Ritter matched it against Holy Family in 2002.
