Raihle, a senior forward on the Panthers’ basketball team, scored 34 points in a 71-55 victory against Blaine. He made seven three-pointers and went 9-for-9 from the free throw line.

Three days earlier, Raihle sank four three-pointers en route to 24 points in a loss to Mounds View. The 6-2 forward leads the Panthers in scoring, averaging 24 points through the first four games.

His twin brother, Mitch, shined in diving last season, breaking the school record and winning the Class 1A state championship. Older sister Tori also won a state diving title.

Girls’ hockey streaks

Two-time defending Class 2A state champion Hill-Murray began this season with a 7-0 mark. Among its quality victories were a 3-1 decision against Blake, one of the top Class 1A teams, and a 4-1 victory against Eden Prairie. Leading the way for the Pioneers have been Laura Anderson (11 goals) and Lindsey Featherstone and Kenzie Prater (10 assists each). Mari Johnson and Ava Bailey split duties in goal.

Elk River/Zimmerman turned heads with an 8-0-2 season start. Like Hill-Murray, the Elks feature a balanced approach. Kelsey King, Shae-Elle McLean, Andrea Westgaard and Breanna Simon have each scored at least five goals. In net, Michaela Gould and Megan Jung each went 4-0-1 in the first 10 games.
