A look at Friday night's games.

BOYS BASKETBALL

HOPKINS 79, WAYZATA 78: With 47 seconds left in the game Hopkins was up 77-73 on Friday night. A 50-point second half for the Trojans was capped off by Austin Slater’s layup and Gavin Baumgartner’s 28-foot three pointer which pulled the game within one, but the Royals held on for the victory. The no. 2 ranked team in class 4A remained undefeated thanks to 25 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assist performance from Amir Coffey. Hopkins will take on no.1 ranked Apple Valley in Minnetonka’s Breakdown Classic tomorrow afternoon.

SOUTHWEST CHRISTIAN 69, CENTRAL MINNESOTA CHRISTIAN 60: Senior Jack Jenson was determined to take lead the Stars passed the Bluejays, ranked no. 2 ranked in Class 1A. Jackson put up a career high 43 points and 12 rebounds to lead Southwest Christian.

ST. ANTHONY 60, COON RAPIDS 55: The Huskies came from behind to beat the Cardinals. Junior Rhys Langums led all scorers with 16 points. This is St. Anthony’s seventh win on the season, which surpasses last season’s win total.

MOUNDS VIEW 56, FOREST LAKE 51: The Mustangs closed out its victory making 10 free throws down the stretch while holding off the Raiders. Nate Albers led the way with 19 points; Zeke Thompson added 17 for Mounds View. Noah Alm had 19 points for the Raiders.

MAHTOMEDI 82, SOUTH ST. PAUL 51: Juniors Parker Fox and Shayne Frost scored 30 and 19 points respectively to blow out the Packers. The duo combined for 32 of the Zephyrs 39 points in the first half.

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

WACONIA 68, BENILDE-ST. MARGARET’S 64: Senior guard Madelin Dammann helped to lead the Wildcats passed the Knights as she scored 32 points. The Knights were led by Brook Stanley’s 15 points.

ST. AGNES 66, HERITAGE CHRISTIAN 64: The Aggies pulled off a close game against the Eagles off a strong game from Maria Turch, she had12 points, 12 rebounds and 4 steals. Adaya Sandifer added a game high 23 points that was matched by Taylie Scott of Heritage Christian.

EDEN PRAIRIE 72, PARK CENTER 56: Senior Esabelle Levine’s 19 points lead the Eagles; her perfect night from the free throw line contributed nine of those points. Jordan Schinas had 15 points as well. Mikayla Hayes scored 17 points for the Wolfpack

CHISAGO LAKES 70, SUPERIOR (Wisc.) 61: Sophomore Carmen Backes put up 37 points, including four 3-pointers as the Tigers beat Superior. Alethea Kluge added 16 points for Chisago Lakes.
