Slowing the potent Eagles' offense may be key for the Islanders.

There is hardly anything better in high school basketball than an early season game between top-ranked teams, and that's exactly what is set to take place on Dec. 13 when powerhouse programs Apple Valley and DeLaSalle square off in the second weekend of the Breakdown Sports Tip Off Classic.

Apple Valley is No. 1 in the Class 4A coaches poll and undefeated on the season (4-0) thanks to the Eagles' highly touted offense, which is averaging 89.0 points per game.

The No. 1-3A Islanders (1-1) are no slouches at putting the ball in the hoop. The reigning state champions averaged 77.0 points in their first two games.

Apple Valley and DeLaSalle were tested on Dec. 6, playing against two of Iowa's top teams in games during the first weekend of the
Tip Off Classic.

The Eagles picked up a quality 70-65 win over Waukee, while the Islanders fell to North Scott 67-64.

With DeLaSalle looking to get back in the win column, and Apple Valley hoping to continue its dominant play, this is game is no doubt the top game in the state and our Top Game of the Week.
