Coach Ben Starns begins year two as the head coach of the Patriots following an inaugural season record of 10-17. Expectations to be better record wise are likely, but how much better depends on the degree to which the younger guys step up and fill roles.

Four main letterwinners will return this season and lead the charge. Hunter Larson, CJ Borleis, Connor Davich and Jack Kreitz are the guys who Coach Stearns will lean on to build up the skills of the youth on the roster. Larson was a main scorer in quite a few games last season.

Looking at the season, there are always some good teams the Patriots face. Crosby-Ironton match ups are always marked on the calendar by both squads as it always has section implications. Perham and Pelican Rapids matchups are always ones to look forward to as well. Crosby-Ironton and Hawley are early leads on being sub-section favorites coming into the season. Detroit Lakes is a tough conference foe each year, too.

Coach Starns believes his defense will be solid and aggressive to help give them more chances to win. Offensively is where improvements are going to be needed and hopefully made as the season begins.
