Seven players have graduated from last season’s 18-8 squad including conference MVP and Pelican’s all-time leading scorer Ryan Bruggeman. John Gullingsrud takes over the head coaching job from Ryan’s dad Doug and looks forward to the upcoming season.

Two starters return for the 2014-15 season along with another who saw significant minutes. Blaine Gorton scored 11.3 ppg at a guard position. Mitch Mackner played a forward spot and contributed 4.3ppg/3.6rpg . Tyler Honrud was the 3rd contributor last season averaging 4.0ppg/1.8apg. These 3 guys are all seniors and will need to provide the leadership and use their experience on the court.

The Vikings will lack height this season. The squad will also be very young and inexperienced. On a positive side, they do have good shooters and a fair amount of quickness. The new faces will have to respond quickly to the level of play that is always top quality in the Heart O’ Lakes conference.

All Heart O' Lakes games are competitive and this year is no different. Hawley is an early favorite, but teams like Breckenridge, Barnesville, & arch rival Perham have more than adequate teams to complete the task of winning the conference title. Most of these teams are also looked as Section contenders too. Crosby-Ironton out of the 8AA North is going to be a bear as well.

The Vikings will look to develop their squad to be at their peak and playing their best ball in the last third of the season with every intention of wanting to make some noise come playoff time.
