Stewartville comes in the 2014-15 season with a good attitude and plans to continue getting out in transition as much as they can. Coach Jon Severson starts his 5th season as head coach. He is assisted by Matt Harvey, who has been on board for four years.
Aaron Quandt is a top player in the Hiawatha League and also in Section 1AAA. He averaged 20 ppg last season and is likely to be the school’s all-time scorer by the end of his senior season. Evan Schlee 12 ppg and Connor Hanf 7ppg/5rpg are others who’ll be looked upon to carry some of the heavier load for the Tigers this season.
Last season the Tigers were 12-11 and hope to be better than that this season. If they come together defensively that will make a huge difference to their success. There is never a break in the HVL-Gold or non-conference season as everyone is pretty tough. Teams like Byron, Lourdes, and Lake City are going to be tough to beat. Once you head to section 1AAA, Austin has been dominant as of late, but Red Wing and Winona return solid squads too.
Staying healthy, better defense, and getting better as playoff time approaches are some top goals for this Tiger team. It will be fun to follow them this year.
