Doing what championship teams do, high-flying DeLaSalle turned to a ball-control game to defeat Austin 50-33 and win its second straight Class 3A championship.

Austin went into the game with a 30-0 record and a reputation for a difficult-to-solve zone defense. But DeLaSalle, having built a double-digit lead, was willing to spend much of the second half throwing the ball around the perimeter, trying to force Austin to come out of the zone.

The Islanders scored just 22 points after halftime, but held Austin to 16.

3 Stars

1. Reid Travis, DeLaSalle
Travis was the game's leading scorer, finishing with 17 points on 6-11 shooting. He completed the double-double by adding 12 rebounds. Although free throw shooting could be considered a weakness in his game, he made them when they counted tonight and went 5-7 from the free throw line. He was DeLaSalle's best player all week and led the way on the state title run.

2. Tom Aase, Austin
Aase did everything he could to keep the Packers in the game but in the end it wasn't enough. He led his team with 14 points and added 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. He played hard all game and was a steady inside presence for Austin.

3. Jarvis Johnson, DeLaSalle
Johnson doesn't put up huge numbers but he was a crucial part of DeLaSalle's title run. He played very steady at the point guard position and made few mistakes. He's incredibly quick and can penetrate the lane seemingly at will. He showcased his athleticism with a highlight reel dunk in the game's closing minutes for two of his 6 points.
