Top performer winner

Shay SanchezMounds Park Academy. The sophomore went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, three runs scored and two stolen bases in his team's 25-5 win April 14 vs. Academy for Sciences and Agriculture.

Top performer candidates

Tristan AugedahlCaledonia. Tristan Augedahl has more wins than many teams in the state have games played. He’s already 3-0 from the mound with one run allowed, which was unearned, to go with 31 strikeouts over 13 innings. Last week the senior lefthander picked up the win April 11 vs. Lewiston-Altura with two innings of relief without a hit or walk allowed and five strikeouts. In an April 15 start vs. Pine Island, Augedahl allowed three hits, no walks, no runs and struck out 14.

Will Whelan, Centennial. The University of Minnesota has to be pleased with who they’re getting next year. The senior pitcher threw six innings of no-hit baseball in Centennial’s April 13 win at Totino-Grace. Seventeen of 18 outs Whelan recorded were strikeouts. He walked one. When he’s not pitching, Whelan can be found playing first base. He’s 2-for-6 batting with a walk and an RBI.

Tyson Reger, Waseca. Tyson Reger does not have a home run, but sometimes triples can be harder to pull off than the long ball. He’s got two of them with one apiece in Waseca wins April 11 vs. Medford and April 15 at Blooming Prairie. In the first game he went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, two stolen bases and two runs. The Bethany Lutheran commit then went 1-for-1 with a run, a three-run triple and a stolen base in the second game.

Nolan Lindholm, Legacy Christian. The senior pitcher showed no signs of offseason rust. Lindholm threw a no-hitter in Legacy Christian’s season opener, an 11-1 win April 13 vs. West Lutheran. The senior allowed just one walk and struck out 17. At the plate, Lindholm went 1-for-3 with two walks, a run, RBI and a stolen base.

Alex Mezzetti, East Ridge. The Raptors won a slug fest 21-11 on April 14 vs. Forest Lake. Nobody did their part in the offensive outburst more than Mezzetti. The junior went 3-for-5 with a home run and six RBIs. He’s up to two home runs on the young season.
