It has been a section tournament of dominance for defending Class 3A state champion Totino-Grace.

On Thursday, it wrapped up a second consecutive Class 3A, Section 4 title with a dominant 77-46 win against Mahtomedi in Stillwater. The Eagles (21-8) flew through the first two rounds of the tournament, defeating Hill-Murray and Columbia Heights by margins of at least 23 points.

A strong defensive game plan helped in the title game Thursday, with the Eagles keying on the Zephyrs’ top scorers. It helped them jump out on a 13-1 run to start the game.

“We went out there, we focused on defense and we let the offense come to us,” said Tommy Humphries, who scored 11 points in the first half and 14 in the game.
