Admittedly, the theme of senior night was on the minds of the nine senior players on Andover (19-6). For many of them, this is the fourth year on the varsity team, and they know what it takes to get to state after reaching the tournament last year.

“It was a little bit nerve-wracking you know,” said senior guard Sam Musungu. “Senior night finally came around, and I’ve been playing varsity basketball for four years, so it’s been a long time coming. But it’s been a nice experience.”

Those nerves certainly did not turn into disappointment for the Huskies. In fact, the occasion seemed to galvanize the Andover team, which played with intensity on both sides of the ball. This fire was how the Huskies poured on the points in the second half for a 102-82 victory over Blaine (14-11).

First Report

The Bengals were on a three-game winning streak going into Tuesday night, but that was stopped abruptly by the energy brought on both ends by the Huskies. Andover’s speed on defense led to easy chances on the break all night, leading to a major 102-82 win over Blaine.

Both teams came to Andover High School on Tuesday off the back of solid runs. The Huskies have been looking great, winning 12 of their last 13 games. The only loss coming against conference-leading Park Center.

Senior guard Ben Kopetzki ran the show for Andover, with a game-high 32 points along with some great dishes to his teammates. On the Blaine side, senior Ryan Bohlman hit a stride at the end of the first half and never looked back.

His 25 points kept the Bengals in the game for a while, but his team couldn’t find a second gear and take the lead in the end.
