Donnavin Hinsz doesn't garner the same kind of attention from the fans or the media as his higher-profile teammates.

But that's OK with Columbia Heights' 6-6 senior. As long as the opposing players are aware of his presence.

"I'm just trying to play the role, kind of like Dennis Rodman, getting in (opponents') heads, rebounding, hustling, trying to take as many charges as I can," Hinsz said Wednesday night after doing just that in helping the Hylanders to a 69-49 victory over visiting Hopkins.

First Report

Terrence Brown scored 21 points and Donnavin Hinsz controlled the lanes as Columbia Heights remained unbeaten with a 69-49 victory over visiting Hopkins on Wednesday.

Hinsz finished with 12 points, but it was his defense, rebounding and passing that shined in the Hylanders' 15th consecutive victory. Columbia Heights, ranked second in Class 3A by Minnesota Basketball News, again left little doubt in its victory. The Hylanders (15-0, 7-0 Tri-Metro) have now won seven games by 20 or more points and 14 by 10 points or more.

Hopkins (12-5, 3-2 Lake) lost for the fourth time in five games. Eighth-grader Jayden Moore, with three three-pointers in the second half, led the No. 6-4A Royals with 15 points. Elvis Nnaji, butting heads with Hinsz most of the game, added 13 points.
