Chet Holmgren, Minnehaha Academy’s multi-talented 7-1 forward, heads the list of the five finalists for the 2021 Mr. Basketball award that was released Tuesday morning.
The other finalists are Richfield guard Lamar Grayson, Waseca forward Andrew Morgan, Champlin Park forward Francis Nwaokorie and Stewartville forward Will Tschetter.
The finalists were culled from a list of 10 semifinalists selected by the Minnesota Mr. Basketball committee that was released last month.
The award, which was established in 1975, is meant to honor the top senior high school basketball player in the state. Minnehaha Academy’s Jalen Suggs was named Mr. Basketball in 2020.
The winner will be named in the week after the boys’ basketball state tournament. The championship games are set for April 10 at Target Center.
