Prince Aligbe and Chet Holmgren each scored 19 points to lead Minnehaha Academy to a 70-63 victory over Wayzata on Thursday night in a clash between two of the state’s top teams in Minneapolis.
Aligbe sparked the Redhawks’ offense, particularly in the second half when he tallied 11 of his points. The 6-foot-6 junior forward had aggressive drives to the basket and took the lead on fast breaks.

Isaiah Davis, a senior guard, also contributed for the Redhawks (5-0) with 14 points in the win. Freshman guard Mercy Miller added 11 points.
The Redhawks, ranked No. 1 in Class 3A by Minnesota Basketball News, came out of the halftime break with a 38-32 lead. The No. 2-4A Trojans quickly cut into the lead in the opening minutes of the second half but couldn’t keep the momentum. Once the Redhawks weathered the run, they built a five-point margin and held on until the final horn.
The Trojans (5-2) entered the matchup averaging 82.3 points per game, but had trouble cracking the interior of the Redhawks’ defense where Holmgren, a 7-foot senior center who is ESPN’s top college recruit in the nation, made points in the paint difficult.
The Trojans’ Carter Bjerke, a 6-foot-9 junior forward, had a team-high 15 points in the loss and junior guard Camden Heide chipped in with 13 points.
