All-Metro second team

Ben Carlson
East Ridge, 6-9, junior, forward
College: Undecided
Excellent size, strength with great anticipation, an elite rebounder and great finisher. Averaged 16.6 points, 11.3 rebounds per game.  

Dawson Garcia
Prior Lake, 6-9, junior, forward
College: Undecided
Played at Metro Player of the Year-level until an injury forced him to miss 12 games. Long and athletic, finishes at the rim, passes out of the double-team, hits the three-pointer.

J'vonne Hadley
Mahtomedi, 6-6, junior, shooting guard
College: Undecided
Blossomed into a deadly long-range shooter, averaging 27.9 points per game (high of 52). Lead the Zephyrs to first state tournament since 1961.

Antwan Kimmons
Tartan, 6-1, senior, guard
College: Idaho State
Explosive off the dribble with a high motor, averaged 21 points, six rebounds, five assists per game. Set school single-game scoring record with 45 against Edina.

Cole Nicholson
Chaska, 6-6, senior, power forward
College: Northern Colorado
Fundamentally sound, exceptional footwork, nearly unstoppable in the low post. Averaged 22 points, nine rebounds, with a 51-point effort against Cooper.

How the team was chosen

The Star Tribune’s all-metro teams and Metro Player of the Year were chosen based on nominations from metro-area coaches, conversations with a panel of coaches and staff observations.
