CHOF state tourney-bound after defeating Hope Academy in Class 1A, Section 4 final

Christ’s Household of Faith, the No. 1 seed in Class 1A, Section 4, is headed to the state tournament for the first time in 18 years after avoiding an upset to beat No. 11 seed Hope Academy 65-50 Friday at Anoka-Ramsey Community College.

“It feels wonderful,” CHOF senior McCaleb Alleman said. “It feels really good to go and represent our school (at state).”

Christ’s Household of Faith is heading to the state tournament after defeating Hope Academy 65-50 in the Class 1A, Section 4 championship game at Anoka-Ramsey Community College on Friday.

Top-seeded CHOF avoided an upset against No. 11 seed Hope Academy after trailing by two at halftime. CHOF came out of the break applying more pressure on defense, forcing Hope into nine turnovers and limiting it to a shooting percentage of 27 from the field.

The biggest difference came from beyond the arc. Although Hope hit six three-pointers, accounting for more than half of its first-half points, its shooters went 0-12 on threes in the second half.

McCaleb Alleman, a senior, led CHOF (22-5) with 18 points, 12 rebounds and added three steals on the defensive end. Isaac Collins and Preston Alleman added 13 and 12 points, respectively.

The duo of Caleb Hoilien and Elijah Wade led Hope Academy (14-16). They combined to score 39 points and 19 rebounds.
