No. 7-2A Annandale at No. 10-3A Waconia
7:15 p.m., Friday, Jan. 31

Playing with bigger schools in the Wright County Conference has resulted in a 2-4 record in Annandale’s last six games, but the state rankers have taken that into account in keeping Annandale among the top 10 teams in Class 2A. Friday night comes another test as the Cardinals visit Waconia, a top-10 team in Class 3A and the leaders in the WCC standings. The Wildcats haven’t lost since the new year, winning six consecutive games with Ryan Boll (18.1 ppg), Jacob Herd (12.9 ppg) and Tommy Gove (9.8 ppg) leading the way. That trio gives Waconia a good outside-inside game, as the 6-foot-6 Boll can play anywhere on the court, and Herd and Gove anchor the back court. Annandale is anchored by a trio of smooth, athletic wing-type players in Chase Knickerbocker (18.3 ppg), Matt Miller (17.7 ppg) and Andrew Fort (14.2 ppg).
