No. 8-3A Simley at Hill-Murray
7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 23

The addition of junior transfer Marshawn Wilson (22.4 ppg) has been a big boost to the Pioneers this winter, a year after he came from Tartan and was forced to play JV. Wilson leads the Pioneers in scoring and has an explosive first step that is nearly unguardable. Last year’s leading scorer, Eric Weimer (17.3 ppg) has been just as productive, giving Hill-Murray coach Dick Ghizoni multiple options offensively. Senior Alex Ogren (12.9 ppg) was a sixth man last winter and has stepped flawlessly into a starting role. Simley has lost two of three games, but continues to be paced by hot-shooting brothers Sam Stensgard (15.6 ppg) and Jack Stensgard (13.9 ppg). The Spartans have nearly equaled last year’s 12 victories already.
