Rochester Mayo vs. Austin

7:30 p.m., Monday, Jan. 27

Austin enters this week with just one loss in 12 games. The Packers (11-1, 8-1) will have a chance to avenge that blemish on Tuesday in a Big 9 Conference clash with Rochester Mayo.

The No. 6-3A Packers lost 72-69 at Mayo on Dec. 10, despite holding the Spartans' high-scoring Gabe Madsen to a season-low 10 points. But the problem opponents face with Mayo (9-3, 8-2) is a double-dose of Madsen. Gabe's brother, Mason, scored 30 that night.

In fact, the Madsens, Mo Hammadelniel (18 points) and Andre Crockett (12) combined to score more points than teams have averaged against the Packers, as Austin gives up just 51.4 points per game.

Holding down Gabe Madsen is no easy task. The 6-foot-5 forward averages 29 points a game and has three contests of 43 or more points. Mason Madsen, averaging 20.4 points, has three 30-point games.

Junior Teyghan Hovland (14 points, 4.6 rebounds per game), Agway Nywesh (13.1 points, 5.8 rebounds a game) and Ogur Gari (9.4 points, 4.4 rebounds a game) lead the Packers.
