St. Croix Prep vs. Spectrum

7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22

This is a big week for St. Croix Prep. After falling behind No. 6-2A Marantha Christian Academy in the Minnesota Christian Athletic Association standings with a 21-point loss on the Mustangs’ court last week, the No. 7-2A Lions now face two more league challengers in Spectrum and Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity before a Jan. 31 rematch with Marantha.

St. Croix Prep (11-3, 4-1), which followed its Jan. 15 loss at Marantha with a 103-64 victory at PACT Charter School three days later, is led by Daniel McCarrell (17.1 ppg), Addison A. Metcalf (14.9 ppg) and senior Nolan Grubisch (14.0 ppg).

Tuesday's game at Spectrum, which has won two of the last three times these teams have met, could be particularly challenging. The Sting (12-2, 6-1) are a perfect 7-0 at home this season and have a strong front line to pit against the Lions’ guard-dominated lineup.

Senior Matt Kruse (22.1 ppg) leads the Sting. He's backed up by 6-6 senior Cole Elrod (17.6 ppg) and junior Max Lawrence (14.9 ppg).
