St. Paul Academy

7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3

These teams on similar paths collide Thursday. Both St. Croix Prep and St. Paul Academy had four-game winning streaks before Christmas and they feature offensive depth as four players from each team average scoring in double figures.

St. Croix Prep (6-2, 1-0) has put up some impressive offensive numbers, including a 99-86 victory over No. 6-2A Caledonia at the Rochester Rotary tournament on Dec. 27. The Lions are coming off an 82-61 loss to Northfield on Dec. 28, but three times this season have scored more than 90 points in a game, including a 109-28 victory over Mounds Park Academy on Dec. 11.

Daniel McCarrell (18.8 ppg), Addison Metcalf (14.0 ppg), Nolan Grubisch (13.2 ppg) and Zachary Doely (11.6 ppg) pace the Lions' scoring attack.

St. Paul Academy (6-1, 0-0) is on a five-game winning streak. The Spartans, averaging 63.1 points per game, don’t match the Lions’ scoring, but they surrender just 51.7 ppg. Ryan Moore (18 ppg), Andrew Johnson (15.4 ppg), Adam Holod (15.2 ppg) and Will Christakos (10.8 ppg) lead the Spartans.
