Minneota vs.

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton

4:45 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 18

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton compiled a 33-1 record en route to a Class 1A state title last year.

The lone blemish during the memorable season was a 61-59 loss to Camden South Conference rival Minneota, but the Knights avenged the regular-season loss by eliminating the Vikings 71-69 in last year's Section 3, Class 1A championship.

Both teams return stacked lineups and should put each other to the test on Tuesday.

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton stumbled for the first time in 15 games dating back to last year in a 52-45 defeat at the hands of Murray County Central.

To get a new winning streak started, the No. 4-1A Knights (4-1, 3-0) can turn to their defense, which is allowing an impressive 45.0 ppg this season. Offensively, the Knights rely on the experience and scoring of senior twins Cooper and Carter Hansen, who average 18.8 and 17.6 ppg, respectively.

Minneota has blown out its four opponents this season, giving the No. 1-1A Vikings (4-0, 3-0) some gaudy averages (83.8 points per game while allowing just 39).

Their dominance was on display in last Tuesday's 78-39 win over Yellow Medicine East. Senior forward Thomas Hennen scored a game high 25 points, while junior forward Logan Sussner added 18 points and sophomore guard Jacob Hennen had 17.
