Mahtomedi at Tartan
7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 10

The Metro East Conference race appears to be a two-team affair after Mahtomedi's win over North St. Paul on Friday.

The Zephyrs upset No. 9-4A Tartan 58-52 on Jan. 14, coming back from a 19-point deficit by closing the game on a 20-0 run. The Titans committed to a diamond-and-one defense to stymie Northern State commit Parker Fox (23.2 ppg). But a Fox dunk spurred his team to a late run where shooters Shayne Frost and Lincoln Rock both caught fire.

Andy Voyen (10.1 ppg) led No. 4-3A Mahtomedi with 19 points and converted a three-point play in the final minute to clinch the game for the Zephyrs (15-1, 8-0).

Siena prospect Jordan Horn, who leads Tartan (17-1, 8-1) with 19.3 ppg, didn’t play against Mahtomedi in January. With the energy he brings to the floor and his team, Horn should feed off a lively home crowd and help his team in the rematch.
